He must increase, and I must decrease

LORD’S DAY WORSHIP

August 16, 2020 at 1:00 pm

Worship of the Triune God is our most important duty.  John 4:23-24 says that God seeks those who worship Him in spirit and truth.  As you worship today, purpose to enter fully into the praise offered by singing, in joyful giving of tithes and offerings, in prayer, and in carefully listening to God speak through the reading and preaching of His Word.  May our sovereign Lord receive glory as you actively worship Him.

Call to Worship                                                               Psalms 66:1-4

Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.”

Hymn of Praise*

Invocation*

Confession of Faith                                                 Philippians 2:5-11

Have this mind among yourselves, which was also in Christ Jesus,

Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,

But emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

And being found in human form, he humbed himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,

So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Preparation for Confession of Sin                 2 Chronicles 7:14

(WCF Chapter XV, section I; Repentance unto life is an evangelical grace, the doctrine whereof is to be preached by every minister of the gospel, as well as that of faith in Christ.)

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
