He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you

LORD’S DAY DIVINE WORSHIP

August 22, 2021 at 1:30 pm

The heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours; The world and all it contains, You have established them. The north and the south, You have created them; Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at Your name. You have a strong arm; Your hand is mighty, Your right hand is exalted. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before You. Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! Lord, they walk in the light of Your face. In Your name they rejoice all the day, And by Your righteousness they are exalted.

Psalm 89:11-16

“Arfon”

Evan Herber Evans (1863-1896)

Keep me near Thee, gentle Savior, Tho beneath Thy cross it be;

Living in a world so sinful ‘Tis Thy cross will strengthen me;

Doubts and trials may assail me, Let my thoughts on Thee abide;

After darkness, pain and sorrow, ‘Twill be light at eventide.

Be Thy Spirit ever near me, As in fear I onward move;

Love divine will safely lead me, Love beyond a mother’s love;

Saints and angels all bear witness, Calvary hath testified;

Tho the cross be in the pathway, ‘Twill be light at eventide.

Call to Worship*                                                               Psalm 89:1-5

I will sing of the lovingkindness of the Lord forever; To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth. For I have said, “Lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens You will establish Your faithfulness.”

“I have made a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant, I will establish your seed forever and build up your throne to all generations.” Selah.

The heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord; Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

Confession of Faith                             Definition of Chalcedon

Therefore, following the holy fathers, we all with one accord teach men to acknowledge one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at once complete in Godhead and complete in manhood, truly God and truly man, consisting also of a reasonable soul and body; of one substance with the Father as regards his Godhead, and at the same time of one substance with us as regards his manhood; like us in all respects, apart from sin; as regards his Godhead, begotten of the Father before the ages, but yet as regards his manhood begotten, for us men and for our salvation, of Mary the Virgin, the God-bearer; one and the same Christ, Son, Lord, Only-begotten, recognized in two natures, without confusion, without change, without division, without separation; the distinction of natures being in no way annulled by the union, but rather the characteristics of each nature being preserved and coming together to form one person and subsistence, not as parted or separated into two persons, but one and the same Son and Only-begotten God the Word, Lord Jesus Christ; even as the prophets from earliest times spoke of him, and our Lord Jesus Christ himself taught us, and the creed of the fathers has handed down to us.

Preparation for Confession of Sin                                Psalm 32:1-5

Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;

my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah. I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity;

I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Assurance of Pardon                                              Psalm 32:6-11

Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him. You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you. Many are the sorrows of the wicked,

but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
