“Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.”

Psalm 95:6-7a

Prelude

Welcome and Announcements

Introit                                                                                         Adult Choir

“Come, We That Love the Lord”

Come, we that love the Lord, and let our joys be known;

join in a song with sweet accord, and thus surround the throne.

The men of grace have found glory begun below;

celestial fruits on earthly ground from faith and hope may grow.

The hill of Zion yields a thousand sacred sweets,

before we reach the heav’nly fields or walk the golden streets.

Then let our songs abound, and ev’ry tear be dry;

we’re marching through Immanuel’s ground to fairer worlds on high.

Call to Worship*                                                                    Psalm 96:1-2

Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth.
Sing to the LORD, bless His name; proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.

Hymn of Praise*            #710

“God of Our Fathers”

Invocation*

Confession of Faith                                                   The Apostle’s Creed

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell.  The third day he rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.  From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*that is, the true Christian church of all times and all places

Preparation for Confession of Sin                  Hebrews 12:14-15

Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled…

Assurance of Pardon                                                  Luke 7:44-48

Turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You gave Me no kiss; but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet. You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume. For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.” Then He said to her, “Your sins have been forgiven.”

Blessing*                                                                     1 Timothy 6:13-16

“I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which He will bring about at the proper time – He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.”
