Introit                                                                                            Choir

“Hiraeth”

Singing thru the countless ages,

Just rehearsing it will be,

Of the Lamb’s eternal Anthem,

Who had died upon the tree.

Love of God, so pure and changeless,

Blood of Christ, so rich and free

Grace of God, so strong and boundless,

Magnify them all in me.  Amen.

Call to Worship*                                                     1 Peter 1:3-5

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Invocation*

Confession of Faith                                  The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Preparation for Confession of Sin            1 John 1:8, 10

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us… If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Corporate Confession of Sin

Our gracious Heavenly Father,  we confess that we have thought, said, and done that which is wicked in Your sight.  You command us to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves, but we fail in so many ways.   Our actions continually turn away from You: from purity to lust, from freedom to slavery, from compassion to indifference, from fullness to emptiness.  Have mercy on us according to Your steadfast love.  Bring our lives into conformity with Your Holy Word.   Help us to strive to make Your commandments the joy of our hearts.  Mold us more and more into the image of Your Son, who came for us, lived for us, died for us, rose for us, ascended for us, and is interceding for us that we might shine forth His light in a dark and perishing world.   Amen.

Assurance of Pardon                                         1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
