“God Himself Is With Us”

God himself is with us; let us now adore Him,

and with awe appear before Him.

 God is in His temple- all within keep silence,

prostrate lie with deepest reverence,

 Him alone God we own, him, our God and Savior;

praise His name forever.

God himself is with us; hear the harps resounding!

See the crowds the throne surrounding!

“Holy, holy, holy” hear the hymn ascending,

angels, saints, their voices blending!

Bow thine ear to us here: hear,

O Christ the praises that thy church now raises.

O thou fount of blessing, purify my spirit;

trusting only in thy merit,

Like the holy angels who behold thy glory,

may I ceaselessly adore thee,

And in all, great and small, seek to do most nearly

what thou lovest dearly.

 Call to Worship*                                                                Psalm 95:6-7a

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Confession of Faith                                        The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Preparation for Confession of Sin                    Proverbs 6:16-19

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Assurance of Pardon                                              Luke 18:9-14

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt:  Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
