“For the Beauty of the Earth”

For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies,

For the love from which our birth over and around us lies,

Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,

Friends on earth and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild,

Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

For each perfect gift of thine to our race so freely giv’n,

Graces human and divine, flowers of earth and buds of heav’n,

Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise throne.

Call to Worship*                                                                    Isaiah 60:1-2

Arise, shine; for thy light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon thee. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the LORD shall rise upon thee, and His glory shall appear upon thee.

Confession of Faith                                        The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Preparation for Confession of Sin                         Psalm 130:1-3

Out of the depths I have cried to Thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If Thou, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

Assurance of Pardon                                                       1 John 1:9

But there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope. My soul waits for the Lord, more than the watchmen for the morning; Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is lovingkindness, and with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
